W październiku 2011 kompozytorka Sofia Gubaidulina obchodziła 80 urodziny. Z tej okazji wytwórnia ECM przygotowała album zatytułowany The Canticle of the Sun. Płyta składa się z dwóch cześci; pierwszą z nich jest The Lyre of the Orpheus nagrane w 2006 roku z Gidonem Kremerem jako solista i orkiestrą Kremerata Baltica. Druga część to nagranie The Canticle of The Sun zawierające jubileuszową kompozycję - utwór skomponowany z okazji 70. urodzin Mścisława Rostropowicza, które obchodził w 1997 roku. Nagranie odbyło się podczas festiwalu w Lockenhaus w 2010 roku.
