Sztuka Europy Wschodniej. The Art of Eastern Europe (Tom 10) [KSIĄŻKA]

Rocznik Sztuka Europy Wschodniej, założony w 2013 roku przez Polski Instytut Studiów nad Sztuką Świata w Warszawie, jest międzynarodowym pismem naukowym, poświęconym sztuce i kulturze artystycznej Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej i Wschodniej, zwłaszcza od XVIII wieku do współczesności. Publikowane są w nim materiały z konferencji i studia problemowe, dotyczące kluczowych zagadnień sztuki regionu i jego związków z innymi kręgami kulturowymi.

Tom X rocznika pod tytułem Antyk w polskiej sztuce i kulturze artystycznej końca XVIII i w XIX wieku zawiera teksty poświęcone głównie architekturze i malarstwu od wczesnego klasycyzmu za czasów panowania ostatniego polskiego króla Stanisława Augusta Poniatowskiego do historyzmu (w architekturze) i akademizmu (w malarstwie). W czasie rozbiorów Polski związki z Rzymem antycznym, chrześcijańskim i współczesnym stały się przeciwstawieniem prawosławnej czy protestanckiej kultury i ideologii zaborców. Dzięki tym związkom z cywilizacją Rzymu polska kultura i sztuka zachowały niezależność. Nie bez znaczenia był tu fakt potwierdzania przynależności do kultury Zachodu. Celem publikacji stało się więc ukazanie ważnych źródeł nowoczesnej polskiej tradycji kulturowej i artystycznej.

The yearbook The Art of Eastern Europe, established in 2013 by the Polish Institute of World Art Studies in Warsaw, is an international scientific journal dedicated to the art and artistic culture of Central-Eastern and Eastern Europe, primarily from the XVIII century to the present. It publishes materials from conferences as well as topical studies dedicated to important issues of art of the region and its relationships with other cultural circles.

Volume X of the annual publication The Art of Eastern Europe, entitled Antiquity in Polish Art and Artistic Culture in the late 18th and 19th Centuries, contains texts chiefly concerned with architecture and painting, from the early Neoclassicism of the reign of the Polish king Stanisław August Poniatowski to the predominance of historicism (in architecture) and academicism (in painting). During the era of the partition of Poland connections with ancient, Christian and contemporary Rome served as a counterweight to the Eastern Orthodox and Protestant cultures intrinsic to the ideology of the partitioning powers. Polish culture and art retained their independence thanks to these associations with Roman civilisation. It is not without significance that this indicated an affirmation of the nation's allegiance to Western European culture.
